My name is Monica Mullinax I’m 49 years old. I am a Certified Surgical Technologist. I am the mother of 2 kids (1 girl & 1 boy) that are married now and have their careers. I have 3 grandkids. On Nov 11 2020 I found myself in the ER because I couldn’t speak. They did test CT scans MRI scans and blood work. I found out that night that I had tumors and fluid on my brain and I needed surgery to remove the largest one that was causing the problem, it was as big as a golf ball. On Nov 13 I had a craniotomy and it was removed and from the test I found out I have non small cell carcinoma that had metastasized to my brain from my lungs. In Dec. I started radiation to my head and Jan. I started chemo and now I’m on the immunotherapy part of the treatment. During all of this on Dec. 11 2020 I married my wonderful husband Michael who has been by my side through all of this. Without the support of my family, friends, the ones raising the awareness and money for research to beat cancer and God I wouldn’t be where I am now. All of my scans are all good. The last MRI of my brain was clear and the PET scan showed that one of the tumors in my lungs is gone and the other has decreased in size by half. In March of this year I have gone back to work not full time yet but I’ll get there!
