Susan Thompson
I am Susan Thompson and just recently diagnosed with malignant melanoma and basal cell carcinoma. In my youth I loved to lay in the sun to tan. I had a spot on my arm that I thought was just an age spot. After much urging from my sister to have it checked I made an appointment at the Skin and Cancer Clinic in Anderson with Dr. Quarterman. He did biopsies and made the diagnoses. Cancer runs in my family. My younger sister had breast cancer and has been in remission for 27 years. My oldest sister is in remission from Thyroid cancer and leukemia for 20 years. I lost my dad to lung and liver cancer. I know how important research is to find new ways to fight cancer. I have registered to participate in the C3 ride this year as support. I am proud to be part of this family in order to help future generations be aware of what causes cancer, how to avoid getting melanoma, and how it can be treated.
