Beverly Kennedy

I am Beverly Kennedy from Vermillion, SD. First off, thank you to C3 for bringing me to Maine as a Warrior and to my daughter, Ellen, who is one of the bikers.

I had a medullary carcinoma in my colon that was removed in 2021. I was fortunate and all lymph nodes were negative. My bigger problems arose after surgery with a-fib and then pulmonary embolisms after returning home. Again, I was fortunate with great doctors, nurses and especially family. This was during Covid so finding a bed in the hospital was a concern. My husband had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 2 years prior. Following surgery and chemotherapy he did well until 2023. Prostate cancer recurred and moved to his bones and diabetes also became a factor. We lost Bill in December of that year. I am thankful for my family who have supported both Bill and I through our cancer journeys. At one check-up, the oncologist said to me “Do you know how lucky you are?”. Yes, I do.

Thank you to C3 for all you do and for having me as a part of this year’s event.

Beverly was nominated by Ellen Kennedy.
